Treasure Coast Youth Sailing Foundation Welcomes You

About Treasure Coast Youth Sailing Foundation

The Treasure Coast Youth Sailing Foundation, Inc. (TCYSF), located at Jaycee Park in Fort Pierce, Florida is a  501(3)c non-profit corporation founded in 2006. The primary mission of TCYSF is to introduce the youth of the Treasure Coast to the joys and responsibilities of sailing while teaching safety, teamwork and the basics of sailing in a fun atmosphere.

In addition to providing a series of week long summer classes for 7-14 year olds, TCYSF also partners with local schools and homeschooling programs to provide lessons during the school year. Outside of structured courses, TCYSF offers informal, fun-oriented, one-day sailing experiences in partnership with local service organizations such as the Boys & Girls Club and the Police Athletic League. Adult lessons can also be arranged.

TIPS FOR STUDENT SAILORS

58775324_10157241275482206_420690736678174720_n.jpg

  • Closed toe shoes are required, either boat shoes or regular sneakers that can get wet. You are encouraged to wear shoes during land activities as well as when on the water.

  • You will get wet sailing, so plan on arriving in your sailing attire and/or bathing suit. Bring a towel and a change of clothes so you can change clothing each day before leaving.

  • Apply sun block (at least SPF 15) and lip balm before arriving. A brimmed hat and properly filtered sunglasses with a lanyard are also strongly recommended. Bring extra sunscreen and lip balm to reapply throughout the day.

  • Hydration is essential, so please bring a reusable water bottle with your name on it for replenishing throughout the day. A refrigerator is available on site if you wish to bring lunch or snacks.

  • Personal Flotation Devices are required when on the water and will be provided. The use of a helmet is optional, and must be provided by the student.

2025 Update

The Treasure Coast Youth Sailing Foundation will again be entering the regatta sponsored by the Lake Eustis Sailing Club this year. It is scheduled for April 12th & 13th ) and will mark the third year of our participation. St. Andrew’s Episcopal Academy students have made up the bulk of our teams, and the regatta proved to be a fun and successful event for them in 2023 and 2024.

We anticipate increased regatta participation 2025-2026 and our classes will be focusing more on racing for qualified students starting in the spring. Regular summer sailing classes again will be starting the second week in June and will run for seven weeks.

We will continue hosting several sailing days for the Police Athletic League (run by the St. Lucie Sheriffs Association), the Courageous Kids Program (run by the Fort Pierce Police Department) and the Boys & Girls Club of Saint Lucie County. We can offer similar sail days to any other program that involves working with Fort Pierce students ages 6 to16.

We will host an Open House (tentatively set for May 3rd)) where you can meet our instructors, checkout our fleet of sailboats, and sign up for summer sailing classes or adult sailing classes.
